Isn’t it great to see the sun and no more snow?!? Thanks to the many of you who gave us feedback on our first newsletter. I will be sending this out monthly…if you don’t want it just hit the unsubscribe button at the bottom and we will remove you from future distribution. Also, let us know what would be of interest to YOU!

This month we are featuring Joe Horvath who is salesman extraordinaire and each month we will highlight another one of our employees. Also, included is one of my Mom’s recipes…Dad was from Kentucky and Mom was from Brooklyn so she had to learn southern cooking and, based on the fact that none of us were ever skinny, she mastered it well! 😊 Hope you enjoy this issue and happy holidays!
Sincerely,
Doug Brown
Kudos to Brown’s

We can tell you we are good at what we do, but let me share with you what our customers are saying:
Our thanks to Steven for their long-time partnership with us at Brown’s.

I would love to hear your comments:
This one is called Potluck Potatoes and is great for large dinners, picnics or other gatherings (which we hope to all be able to do by this summer!) with the following ingredients:

2 lbs. frozen hash browns (cubed potatoes, not shredded), thawed
¾ cup of melted butter
1 tsp. salt or to taste
½ cup of chopped onions
1 pint of sour cream
2 cups of grated cheddar cheese
1 can of cream of chicken soup
2 cups of crushed corn flakes

Combine hash browns, 1/2 cup butter, salt, pepper, onions, sour cream, cheese and soup. Pour this into a greased 9" x 13" baking dish. Mix the remaining ¼ cup butter and crushed corn flakes. Spread this mixture as a topping over the the potatoes. Bake at 350º for 45 minutes.

(Joyce always brought this to potluck dinners at church!)

Editor’s note: Can also be different cheeses and different cream soups! It’s a great dish for creativity!

Joe Horveth is our Sales Manager and brings 20 years of hands-on experience to Brown's! He started with us in the year 2000 and has been in the Parts Department and has done installations and servicing so when he comes to your home he has the field experience to do a great job determining what you need. Joe is married and lives in Middletown with his wife Rebecca and their two children--his daughter is Ryan (10) and his son is Rob (7).  We are lucky to have someone with Joe's experience carrying on the Brown’s family tradition of service and personal attention.
During the month of April, Brown’s will be helping local food banks by collecting rice. If you would like to join us just bring your rice to our office at 88 Birch Street in Little Silver during working hours. If you need to drop off after hours and weekends, we would welcome your donation in the red container labeled rice which is on the bench by the front door. To date we have collected almost 200 pounds of rice…let’s see if we can double that!
Household Hints

There’s this great book…UNCOMMON SOLUTIONS TO COMMON EVERYDAY PROBLEMS…and here is one of the better household hints:

Save your citrus rinds and made your own fresh smelling cleaning solution. Place the rinds from oranges, lemons, lime or grapefruit in a jar of white vinegar and seal. Let brew four weeks, then strain the liquid. You can use this brew to clean your home, just like regular vinegar. Smells great!
