Carrier Comfort vs Performance: Which Furnace is Right For You?

Carrier comfort vs performanceOur HVAC technicians are often asked about our favorite furnace brands. It’s no secret that, while we are fully qualified to service and install all major makes and models, we often recommend Carrier. Why? Because we believe in high quality products and sound warranties. So, when the time comes to start researching your new furnace installation options, most likely you’ll start with comparing the Carrier Comfort vs Performance series.

Carrier Comfort vs Performance: Product Comparison

While Carrier is known for their line of industrial HVAC systems, their residential gas furnaces are designed to provide NJ homeowners with the same level of reliability and quality. As a leader in energy-efficiency (with nearly half of all models qualify for an Energy Star certification), Carrier also offers homeowners a generous warranty.

When it comes to home heating comfort, Carrier offers three lines of gas furnaces: Infinity, Performance and Comfort series. All series offer a wide range of quality, highly-efficiency gas furnaces to choose from.

As the most expensive gas furnace in the Carrier lineup, the Infinity is their top-tier model. It’s pretty much the Cadillac of gas furnaces. But, for the purpose of this blog, we will compare the Carrier Comfort vs Performance gas furnace series.

Performance™ Series Gas Furnaces

The Carrier Performance gas furnace series is Carrier’s midrange series. At a fraction of the price of the Infinity series, the Performance series by Carrier provides quality single and two-stage gas furnace options ranging from 80% AFUE to 96.7% AFUE.

Their two-stage option is Energy Star-qualified and heats up to 96.7 percent AFUE. Featuring a lowerblower stage, two-stage heating is designed to reduce the amount of power and fuel necessary to heat your home or office. Known for being efficient, quiet, flexible and durable, this powerful series really lives up to their Performance name. Higher efficiency results in lower energy bills.

Comfort™ Series Gas Furnaces

The Carrier Comfort gas furnace series is an affordable line of single-stage units. As Carrier’s economy model gas furnace, the Comfort Series features AFUE ratings ranging from 80% AFUE to 96.5% AFUE. Still offering an excellent efficiency rating, the Comfort series furnaces do have fixed-speed blower motors which make them run a little bit noisier than the Performance series, but they do cost less. This makes them an excellent investment for smaller New Jersey homes and those on a tight budget.
